Who We Are

The members of Westwood United Methodist Church  welcome you to this piece of cyberspace and our corner of the world on Epworth Avenue in Westwood of Cincinnati, Ohio.

We are people much like you. We work too much, drink too much coffee, consume too many calories, worry about our kids, struggle with finances, watch too much TV, play too many video games. But also like you, we want to be generous, authentic, caring people. We want our lives to count.

But our ultimate faith in how to do this may separate us. Bridging that gap is our mission at Westwood. The gap that keeps us from living joyful, purposeful lives is the breach between our individual souls and God. How can we live separated from the Source of Life, our very Creator and think that our lives can be passionately purposeful?

The Old Testament God became the New Testament Jesus Christ - the Creator descending to be born on one small planet. I love the way Philip Yancy expressed it: Those of us who believe this never again need... wonder whether what happens on this dirty little tennis ball of a planet matters to the universe.

Christ in our lives matters! That's what we mean when we "profess our faith in Christ." It makes us want to love and live life loudly! God's breath in our lives urges us to soar - to sing - to serve - just because.
