Mission is what Westwood United Methodist Church is about everyday of the week. Locally we sponsor an inter-denominational ministry named, My Neighbor’s Place, a ministry with and to folks who need help with clothing and food as well as a place of fellowship and friendship. This ministry currently supplies hundreds of individuals and families with close relationships in practical and spiritual ways.

The United Methodist Women have sponsored missions and missionaries for years locally and around the world. We have “units” or small groups that meet weekly for reading, study, fellowship and mission focused outreach.

Many people volunteer from Westwood United Methodist Church in local schools as tutors, with Wesley Services, the Wesley Foundation or Wesley Chapel Mission Center. Not every ministry we support needs to start with “Wesley” such as Habitat for Humanity, Dulac, LA, or our adult mission trip to Edisto Island.

Missions is in the DNA of Westwood United Methodist Church, with our congregation  giving both time and money to projects and people around the Cincinnati area and throughout the world. If you would like more information, please contact the church office.

The Church's Mission Translated to Local Missions

The Church exists because it has a mission. Based on the "Great Commission", the mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. As a local church, Westwood UMC envisions all kinds of day to day opportunities for disciple- making: from conversations on the front porch, to jamming on the church lawn, to giving sacrifically, the mission of transorming the world through the love of Jesus Christ drives us. According to Matthew's Gospel, the risen Christ made it clear: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you." (28:19-20)

Global Missions

At the district and conference level of the United Methodist Church organization, The Advance exists to provide voluntary opportunities to support ecceumenical causes around the world. Westwood UMC has participated in The Advance by sending money to the conference for their distribution to approved mission programs and approved missionaries around the world. For more information on UM Advance, see http://new.gbgm-umc.org/Advance/about/
